Union Pacific Railroad Museum Celebrates 10 Years in Council Bluffs

May 10, 2013

Since 1905, the beautiful Carnegie Library building has been an important part of Council Bluffs.  For the last 10 years, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum has brought new life and a first-class experience to travelers and locals alike. In honor of this milestone, the Museum invites the community to join in the 10th Anniversary Celebration on May 11.

"I have always been a fan of Andrew Carnegie; we share a hometown. His Carnegie libraries are an amazing legacy.  And now, as an employee of Union Pacific, I have even more reason to love this building.  Mr. Carnegie, who had a railroad background, would be proud," said Eileen Davis, board president-Friends of the UPRR Museum.

"The Friends of the UPRR Museum have worked hard to adhere to their mission to support this beautiful building, as well as to support education in the community," she added.

The 10th Anniversary Celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with giveaways at the door for the first 100 families; volunteers in period dress handing out temporary tattoos; and face painting.  Union Pacific's Mini Train also will be on display at the museum.  The UP Museum celebration is in conjunction with the annual Chipper's Spring Adventure community events.
