Train Excursion Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017

The Union Pacific Railroad Museum is proud to announce the 2017 Museum Special, an exclusive chance for the public to travel on Union Pacific’s heritage equipment across the mainline from Omaha to Columbus, Neb., roundtrip. Scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., proceeds from this unique opportunity will directly benefit the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.

No other railroad in this country has retained its historical equipment and honored its past like Union Pacific. Its fleet preservation speaks to the high value Union Pacific places on its heritage and its role in America’s history. Each historic passenger car is unique and chronicles a different chapter of Union Pacific’s past. For more than a century, these cars transported iconic individuals – including presidents, senators, generals, soldiers, artists, architects, singers and actors – who influenced and transformed America.
Share the adventure with us Aug. 13, 2017, as we trace the beginning of Union Pacific’s construction of the transcontinental railroad from Omaha to Columbus, Nebraska, on heritage equipment pulled by historic E-9 streamliner locomotives. This is a rare opportunity to travel on the Union Pacific mainline and relive the heyday of premium Union Pacific passenger service.
“It is opportunities like this that allow the Museum to continue to share the unique history of Union Pacific with the public,” said David Bills, president of the Union Pacific Museum Association, a 501 (c) 3 organization charged with sharing railroad history through exhibits and programming at the Museum. “We recognize the importance of the railroad industry to our region and share that heritage with more than 28,000 visitors annually, 40 percent of which come from outside of Nebraska and Iowa.”
