Union Pacific Railroad Museum Launches New Website

September 7, 2011

The Union Pacific Railroad Museum website has a bold new design that incorporates fresh content, picture slide shows and easy-to-find information.  The website better serves a broader audience, including rail fans, history enthusiasts, teachers, and students of all ages interested in Union Pacific Railroad history and how the railroad helped shape America.

“The new website is dynamic and quickly captures viewers’ interests, with the ultimate goal to have them visit the museum,” said Beth Lindquist, director – Union Pacific Railroad Museum.  “There are several new website features that will showcase our exhibits as well as the Union Pacific Historical Collection.”

Easier to Use
The website is organized to provide clear and direct access to material.  Guests will be able to see the museum’s daily offerings through the “Exhibit” section.  The “Activities & Events” section includes a calendar with upcoming events as well as information for those looking to book a group tour, be it for a school, scouting troop or adults.  In the “Join Us” section, viewers will find ways to help keep the Union Pacific Railroad Museum operating by becoming a member or volunteer.

New to the museum site is “Curator’s Corner.”  Viewers can learn more about an artifact in the Union Pacific Historical Collection.  At different times throughout each month, the website will feature a “mystery object” for which viewers can make guesses about what the artifact is or does.  The “Curator’s Corner” also will feature posts from visitors commenting about their experience at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.

In the near future, fans and friends also will be able to follow updates and events at the museum through Facebook and Twitter.
